This is a book all leaders, born or made, should read. Maxwell's leadership laws are succinct and highly useful. He supports the laws with real business stories and leadership anecdotes, then he shows you how to apply these laws (each chapter ends with practical strategies and activities to help you reflect and grow your leadership abilities). Honestly, I couldn't stop reading.

But here are the main points from each chapter/law of "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership":

I. The Law Of the Lid: Leadership ability determines a person's level of effectiveness.

A thick book about Maxwell's 21 laws of leadership. Well-written and informative, this is an update of the 1998 best-selling book.

Expect to spend a few hours with this volume. Absorb that which is useful to you. If your are already a leader, this book will help you to be a better one. There is a lot here for every level of leadership.

These laws are broad enough for application to any industry or government section. Millions of people have applied them to their personal lives, such as in marriage.

This is an epic self help manual and I am glad for you. You're taking a major step towards improving your value to society. Read, enjoy, and lead on.

Nothing that happens in our lives is a coincidence. At least I don't believe so. God has place where I am with the people I am with, doing the things I do including the fact that I am in a Mastermind Group involving reading this absolute GEM of a book.

If you feel that you a natural-born leader (someone who doesn't follow the crowd but paves their own way) then this book will open your eyes to specific qualities (laws) you nerd to follow/have in order to develop into your greatest potential as a leader. Love this book! I wanted it for the orangutan pattern but all the patterns in the book are amazing. I own all 4 of the zoomigurumi books and they are all very good. Directions are clear and I haven't found any missing steps or unclear directions yet like you find in some amigurumi books. Some patterns require more skill but simpler patterns are listed first and they increase in difficulty. If you are comfortable with following written crochet directions and know simple stitches then anything in this book is achievable for you.

Still reeling from my disappointing Kindle book download of "What In The Universe? (Steven Universe)" I was almost scared to go get this out of my mailbox, knowing it had just been delivered. I couldn't have been more pleased with what I found.

True to the educational/loving nature of the show, the creators have released a book teaching others to PLAY the music from the show, and inspire them to create their own. As a decade-ago-high-school-band-clarinet-abandoner, now mother, this is exactly the refresher I needed to be able to pick up Uke and help my son learn how to play it. The chords for ukelele, guitar, and piano are all included, as well as helpful, easy to read information about getting started as a musician on your own.

Music and lyrics for great songs with character

Part sheet music book, part introductory musical lesson book, part character feature, and part music activity book! This was a fun, unexpectedly thorough collection of the songs from Season 1 of Steven Universe, and the BEST thing about it is that we get to see the intended melodies written out on manuscript paper, with harmonies written in where appropriate, and lyrics and everything.

The only place it really falls short for me is that it tried to cram introductory music theory into the first few pages in a way that I do not think is accessible for its intended audience. Someone who can understand these hasty definitions with very few demonstrations or examples probably already reads music, and someone who can already read and write music on the level it requires to write songs probably won't be using the adorable "write a song about ___" prompts to make up their own tunes in the provided staff paper in the book. (I say this as someone who majored in music education. I think it just didn't take its time enough, and that taking that kind of time to present these concepts is beyond the scope of a book like this.)

There are also a couple outright typos, like "time signatue" and "Mini Music Lession." That surprised me, because those are spell-check-level mistakes that should have been edited out in a major publisher's production.

But on to the wonderful things about the book! First, it has an intro from ex-rock star Greg Universe, followed by a really authentic intro from Steven where he tells you there are a bunch of different ways to experiment with music. I particularly appreciate this as a set-up to the complicated music lessons they're about to give, because kids who play/sing/write by ear but have no theory experience might need that pep talk if they don't get it on paper. Then they dump the music theory on you in attempting-to-be-simple descriptions, and then they give you a lovely little set of ukulele chord charts, guitar chord charts, and piano chord charts.

We move on from there to sheet music for the show's theme song, "We Are the Crystal Gems." Related activities give prompts for kids to define their own superhero team elements and write their own theme song.

Next we get "Let Me Drive My Van (Into Your Heart)," Greg Universe's old song from "Laser Light Cannon." Kids get activities to design their own band van, make up some rhymes, and write a song about their outlook on life.

Moving on, we get "Giant Woman," a fan favorite. It's catchy as heck and decorated with drawings of Opal, and the follow-up pages give us facts about the stability of various Gem Fusions, some activities about elements of dance, and spaces to design a Fusion between yourself and a friend and write your Fusion Dance song. (Wow, that's a lot to take in.)

The gorgeous song "Strong in the Real Way" is up next, from "Coach Steven." Predictably, it's decorated with Pearl art, and though it's mostly just accompanied with chord notations, it's got an intro and a bridge with two-handed piano music. I like that. The activities that follow are a little weird, discussing how to be strong and asking you to solve an odd puzzle. Pearl gives a lesson about harp and piano history, followed by one of my favorite things: she defines arpeggios for you and says some very in-character stuff about how "broken" chords are beautiful. (Considering the song this follows is full of arpeggios, it's pretty appropriate.) You're then supposed to write a song about being strong in your way.

"Steven and the Stevens" and the nearly identical song "Steven and the Crystal Gems" get a mention next, with activities for kids to design album covers, construct and write a song for their own band, and draw multiple Stevens. I love the little "B-sides" they threw in with chords and lyrics for the goofy partial songs from the episode: "Ste-Ste-Ste-Steven" and "Big Fat Zucchini." You have to hear "Big Fat Zucchini" to believe it.

"Dear Old Dad" is here too, and even though it's kind of a monotone song, the harmony between Greg and Steven is so touching and rough in the show. Kids can draw a picture of someone they've known as long as Steven's known his dad, and you're given a little "growing up" favorites list that you're supposed to fill out now and then again in a year. (I like that they ask you to mention your favorite gemstone.) The musical activity gives you paper to write a duet.

Next is "Be Wherever You Are" from "Island Adventure," which is the sweetest little song and probably shouldn't be played on anything but ukulele. Activities let you make a list of stuff that makes you feel happy and confident, draw a picture of where you'd like to travel to, and brainstorm ideas for a musical refrain. The songwriting spot asks for an unwinding song to calm yourself or someone else.

The deceptively deep "On the Run" follows--Amethyst and Steven's duet, with art of the two of them. Activities ask you to list items you'd put in your bag for a trip, design book covers, list friendship activities, and write a song about what you like to do with your friends. And it includes a whistling lesson, coupled with the new information that apparently Steven cannot whistle!

The song "Lapis Lazuli" and its reprise "Wailing Stone" from the episode "The Message" are up next in the sheet music. Activities allow kids to draw mirror images of the Gems, list your own strengths and weaknesses, and reprise the tune of the above songs to write a song about when you felt misunderstood.

And finally, everyone's favorite (okay, maybe just mine): Garnet's song from "Jailbreak," "Stronger Than You." I really appreciate seeing the chords and breakdown for this one. Activities are interesting: because this is Garnet's Fusion song, they of course talk about fusion, and they ask you to divide yourself into two "halves" and imagine what each would be like. Then you're supposed to write about your favorite traits about yourself, bouncing off Garnet's song celebrating herself. Finally, a music lesson about triplets presented as musical Fusions is taught in Garnet's voice. (Nice, since her song also uses triplets.) You're given space to write your own celebrating-yourself song.

And we close with a partial rendition of "Love Like You," which has played in bits and parts over the end credits here and there. As of this writing, the entire song has not been played on the show, so it is not released here, but the full version is really lovely and I hope I get to see the sheet music for it someday--maybe in a sophisticated, no-activities, straight-up sheet music book for this show, including some instrumentals. Activities ask kids to write a postcard to someone they've said goodbye to, and a closing statement compares music to magic you can do.

It's a lovely little book and I just wish a better balance could have been found for the music theory at the beginning.

Amazing if you have a musician to help out, but still pretty cool even if you don't.

I'm a huge fan of Steven Universe and a music teacher, so when I saw this book, I was very psyched to say the least. I have at least one student that's going to be ecstatic to know this came in the mail today.

I'm just really excited to see a book like this in the first place. It explains how to understand some basic music terminology and tools. Then it goes through songs from the show, and follows up with a creative activity for kids after each one. I would be ridiculously happy to see a book like this made for other well written family shows with catchy songs in them like Adventure Time and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Here's the only catch: I'm really afraid this book could be a turn off for people without someone with a musical background in the family or access to a music teacher. So fair warning that the actual music parts can be a little hard to understand for new players, but the book does try to explain notes, rhythm, and harmony. It even has charts that show how to play chords on ukulele, guitar, and piano. If you don't already play though, you're not going to just pick up the book and play the songs easily. That's music though. Even if you just use this as a lyric collection and activity book though, it's still really cool. Even aside from all of that, it's still a cute collectable for a fan.

So in short, if you already play music and want to share this with a young person in your life that's a fan of Steven, I HIGHLY recommend this book.

If you're just fan (of any age) with no musical background or musician friends or mentors, it's still a fun collectable. It's just mainly geared towards people that can already play, or more specifically towards kids that have someone who plays music in their life that can help them work through it.

A must have for any young professional

Walking on Air was a quick read that really hit home for some of the daily struggles I encounter as a young professional. It helped me regain my focus on the things I should be concentrating on. The writers clearly articulate their tips and mentalities. I used to work with a young employee who had a similar mindset and drive. It showed in his eyes and everyone could see it. I found this book very motivating and will recommend it to my peers and co-workers.

The book was very satisfying, while at the same time it left me wanting more. I'm looking forward to the next piece of work from these Young, Fly, and Foolish authors.

As a young adult who made the "foolish" decision of moving out of state away from all of my close friends and family for graduate school, I can attest to how helpful this book has been in lieu of my recent transition. The authors did an amazing job of empowering the readers that it's absolutely okay to live out your wildest dreams.. even when others and sometimes yourself don't believe thats it possible or worth it. Walking On Air is a quick but powerful read that can be enjoyed by those young and or old!! I'll be sure to continue spreading the word on what it means to be #YoungFlyFoolish

Don't let this book look down on you as a dyslexic!

This book is ok. It outlines a some good, techniques on how to approach studying, but within a very limited scope. The reason I disliked this book is that it only focuses on the shortcomings of dyslexics. It treats dyslexics as if they are defective, calling out dyslexics as having poor short term memory, and slow information processing speed. Reading this as a dyslexic did not excite me to use the learning styles in this book. Rather it made me feel stupid, and inadequate. Making me think that the person who wrote this book really does not understand dyslexia at all. I recommend reading, The Dyslexic Advantage: Unlocking the Hidden Potential of The Dyslexic Brain by Brock I. Eide & Fernett L. Eide.

Time Consuming

Time consuming instructions. Not for mild dyslexia. The techniques are workable for jr. high or high school students not pressed for time. Some exercises required too much time to complete. I suppose that doing them over and over would build speed and improve retention of the study material. Also, the size of the book is not very useful. It is small with very small type. It is a pale purple, which makes it harder to read.

This is the perfect guide for dyslexic individuals! It's extremely visual and great for students such as myself. This is definitely one of the few books that I feel really understands the condition by illustrating everything! The flow just works.

For the investigators and psychologists involved, the mystery only deepened when a seemingly unlikely arrest was made: a soft-spoken girl next door and her intelligent, devoted fianc�. Joining forces with some of the country’s most specialised experts in the occult and psychopathy, Lieutenant Ogies Nel of the Welkom Detective Unit and her colleagues in the South African Police Service unravelled one of the most brutal psychologically motivated murders ever committed in South Africa’s crime history. As they uncovered the evidence, they exposed a most heinous deed, alarmingly similar to the crimes committed by serial killer Ed Gein, who had a preference for flaying his victims’ skin. Disappointing.

It's one thing to not have the means to describe all events as they occurred. I can only imagine that must be a monumental task. However, to fill the gaps with your own imagination, or worse, blatantly lie about small details such as when Mrs. van Eck assaulted the accused -- that is different and unforgivable. Anyone with access to YouTube can see the particular event as described by Jana, is incorrect and worse -- screams of sensationalism. This book borders on fantasy and the reader is left not knowing what to believe.

A story half told

This account of terrible social and psychological pain is not well conceived (or, for that matter, written). It is a chronological description of events, with imaginative excursions into the psychologies of the main participants in the story. The narrative progresses well until it devolves into a record of text messages sent by the protagonists to one another in the lead-up to the murder – with little attempt to frame and interpret these. From here till the end of the book one has the impression of a hastily written, imperfectly imagined account of events. Some interesting and important angles to the story are introduced - and then left unexplored. There is, for example, a suggestion that the parents of the killers are indirectly responsible for their children’s’ crimes: we are told that the young girl’s step-father made her skin animals he’d shot on hunting trips (she later developed the fantasy of skinning a human being). Then we are told that the father of the boy made him dispose of the corpses of cats killed by their dogs (he later fantasized about killing). And then, finally, we are told how the young girl’s grandfather – a minister in the AGS church – claimed publically that she was demon-possessed because she was an anxious and withdrawn child! If ever there were a self-fulfilling prophecy it is here: she later gets a demonic imaginary friend. These, and other such facts, are not pursued: the grandfather’s cruelty, in particular, is not dealt with in the detail it deserves.
Nor does the writer comment sufficiently on the arguments of the expert witnesses in the trials - especially when it comes to the evidence of Dr Jonker, the police 'expert' on occult crimes. As presented by the writer, the 'testimony' he gives is ludicrous nonsense. Jonker and other experts are quoted at great length – and, once again, the writer makes little attempt to comment on their insights into the killers - except, perhaps, implicitly. This is surely one of the book’s greatest missed opportunities.
In the final analysis I am of the opinion that "Grave Murder" fails to highlight how short-sightedness, selfishness, and spiritual poverty can lead people into the dark places the story takes us. Welkom is a hard place for the young to find nurture, and the Free State is dominated by rigid forms of conservative Christianity that are bound to produce devil-obsessed children. Sadly, none of these bigger issues are identified – let alone addressed - in the book.

The Whole Story at Last

A very well written book that consolidates all the half told stories around this tragic event, and probes the motives and drivers that underlay the terrible act. The author manages to do justice to all angles of the story, explains but never justifies the killers, and adds just enough dramatization to turn a dry factual account into a thrilling and interesting story, without altering key facts. A very good read, and a necessary record of the tragic and wasteful death of a promising young man.
